In August of 1976, nine-year-old Mark Helmig of Pekin, Illinois, was one of them.

We had a report of a young boy missing from the public housing out on Broadway Street in Pekin.

That housing sits right next to the ra- uh, across the street from the railroad tracks and a big turntable out there, uh, switch yards.

And then across that is the, uh, city park, Mineral Springs City Park.

During that, uh, time, there was a 4H fair going on at the park.

He asked his mother to go to the park, and she wouldn't let him.

He was supposed to go to Canton to a summer camp.

And our intention was we hoped we would maybe see something, uh, find someone to talk with that could give us more information concerning, uh, Guatney and anything that might be related to any, uh, boys, missing boys or possibly any future problems that they may run into.
