So Jim, just explain a bit more about how you came to do what you do.
13:15
Would you believe I, I have never intended to be a scam baiter, as we say.
13:21
What I do is deliberately lead on scammers to see where it ends up, and I got there by accident.
13:27
My day job, until very recently, was I worked in IT, so I knew a bit about computers, and I would get the same scam phone calls that almost everybody gets.
13:37
And I thought, "Why isn't somebody doing something about it?" And with the result I thought, "Well, I'll give it a go.
13:43
I'll try it out." And to my surprise, I accidentally shared a video on the YouTube platform, and it got a lot of views.
13:53
That, that really surprised me, and I thought, "Well, hang on, there's something in this, and maybe if scammers don't get their own way all the time, it's actually a good thing to broadcast." Plus, and the whole reason for the channel is, it's about education.
14:55
Just explain what a deepfake is.
12:36
Oh
12:36
... "Jim Browning." And, you know, and then even at this stage, scammers actually know my name, and then they'll know they've been compromised.
12:45
So I have to play it by ear a little bit.
12:49
Um, but yes, I can't let scams just happen like that.
12:53
And even about two and a half weeks ago, I was watching a scam happening to an individual in the UK, and he was ...
13:04
This was an investment scam.
13:06
So you get all sorts of scams.
17:28
[upbeat music] Is there a sense of satisfaction involved here? Like, why did you start doing this?
