outstanding nationals campaign um you know i think it won your all-around score was one of the top ones in this cycle um do you think that that subconsciously um added extra pressure on you like did you feel like you had to go there and come away with like the gold
5:16
um Not really.
5:19
Cause I think a lot of the pressure I feel is put on myself from myself.
5:25
Um, so I feel like I felt a lot of pressure, but that was, it was pretty much all internal, I think.
5:33
Cause you know, I want to win.
5:35
Um, and yeah, I want to represent Australia as good as I can.
5:40
Um, so yeah, it was, it was there.

41 MINS LATER

46:19
Which is Breville, by the way, which we will tag in this.
41:54
ridiculous apparatus by the way I'm with you on that that just looks like a shoulder operation waiting to happen like
42:00
seriously well it gave me a shoulder operation so that's definitely didn't give it the brownie points but yeah so we'll go rings probably vaults next not really the biggest fan of that one um And then we'll go pommel, although it's one of my best pieces.
42:18
It's just one of those that's hit and miss.
42:21
You ask anyone and their least favorite is probably pommel.
42:26
And then I'd say maybe he-bars, then floor, then high-bar.
42:33
They're pretty on par for me.
43:48
What are the key differences there to keep up with a world standard that you're facing?
43:55
I mean, to be honest, you know, gymnastics in Australia, although it's like one of the most participated, you know, sports in younger people, it doesn't get a lot of money filtered through to the top end.
6:10
As opposed to the guys overseas who have been doing it all their life, what are the key differences there to keep up with a world standard that you're facing?
6:20
I mean, to be honest, you know, gymnastics in Australia, although it's like one of the, the most participated, um, you know, sports in, in, in younger, younger people, it's that doesn't, it doesn't get a lot of, sorry, it doesn't get a lot of money, uh, filtered through to the top end.
6:38
So, um, you know, opportunities like, like this Amazon, um, piece and, you know, and anything else that, you know, helps us out.
6:47
Also like, um, something we can have fun with.
6:51
So I'm, I'm not sure if the, I think the video's gone out this morning about Amazon thing, and that certainly was a fun shoot to be around, especially with the caliber of athletes that I was there with as well.
7:02
But yeah, it's certainly different here in Australia than overseas, especially also being geographically isolated from a lot of top competition.
7:12
So yeah, this kind of support, yeah, it's really helpful.
9:36
So does it go on a wave? It's like the swimmers, they taper a bit and then get into heavy training again?
LozHOST
39:58
Are you able to actually be in your body for that moment and really take it all in? Or is it just so overwhelming that it's finally happened and, you know, you've thought about it so much that it feels a bit out of body?
40:09
Yeah, a little bit, actually.
40:10
You know, yeah, I mean, I was up first in that rotation.
40:14
And after I hit that routine, I knew I could have been on for the gold.
40:19
So it was a nervous wait, for sure.
40:22
But yeah, kind of, you know, standing on the podium, listening to the national anthem and I guess celebrating that with friends and family, it's still pretty surreal.
40:38
Can you carry this routine into that tournament? Do you need to add to it? Do you need to tweak it? Can this routine win you the world bronze, the world gold, I mean?
40:47
Um, yeah, look, it's probably not quite there.
60:44
So, so to win gold, to come back with three, you'd, you'd, you'd be happy with that, Jess?
60:50
Yeah, very happy.
60:51
I mean, it was-- It's, it's still far from my best competition, for sure.
60:54
Um, um, still, yeah, less, less some out there to be desired, but, um, I mean, yeah, the big goal was to, to bring back some silverware and, um, yeah, pretty stoked to have done that.
62:53
Has that always been the way?
62:55
Yeah.
62:55
You know, it's, it's a, it's a bloody hard sport.
62:58
Um, and I think everyone knows that and, you know, every-everyone puts in the hard yards a-as in every sport, but I think gymnastics is just kind of, I don't know, just that next level.
0:51
So, so to win gold, to come back with three, you'd, you'd, you'd be happy with that, Jess?
0:57
Yeah, very happy.
0:58
I mean, it was, it's uh, it's still far from my best competition, for sure.
1:02
Um, um, still, yeah, less, less, some out there to be desired but, um, I mean, yeah, the big goal was to, to bring back some silverware and, um, yeah, pretty stoked to have done that.
3:01
Has that always been the way?
3:03
Yeah.
3:03
You know, it's, it's a, it's a bloody hard sport.
3:06
Um, and I think everyone knows that and, you know, every-everyone puts in the hard yards a-as in every sport.
25:56
How difficult is that then to transition into senior gymnastics where all of a sudden you are competing against all of these gymnasts from all over the world and maybe you're not winning the gold medal or dominating like you would at your national championships?
26:11
Yeah, I think...
26:13
You know, my kind of first exposure to that was Junior World Championships.
26:17
I went there in, what was that, 2019, I think.
26:20
Okay.
26:21
And, you know, that was kind of my first real exposure of, you know, competing against everyone else around the world, obviously still in the junior level.
26:31
I think, yeah, I made high bar final.

10 MINS LATER

37:02
more than 11 you've done 12 places there to 11th best all-around gymnast in a world in a very strong all-around final where everything was very competitive even if maybe the top scores were a little bit higher than what that third place score was in what did you take with you in terms of strategy then going into to last year obviously the code changed you spoke about being clever and smart and working smarter what was your strategy in terms of the gymnastics and the technical side of things
