... trumpet malfunction, so take us through making a play in front of that many people.

Oh, my.

Okay, in a nutshell, I'm playing on a very expensive trumpet, a custom-made trumpet, and, uh, the last thing I thought was gonna happen was for the valve to seize up.

So a third of the way through The Star-Spangled Banner, and you all who know me, you know how I play it.

A third of the way through that song, the second valve froze.

It locked up and would not move.

And y- if you're watching the, uh, the video of it, you can hear me clicking the valves, trying to free this, this valve up, and it did not move.

[laughs]

Yes.

And even though that's fun and it kinda entertains you.

So I really think that, um, and I say this to my, my Pratt students as well, we're doing entrepreneurial class and they are always like, "Well, I'm gonna, I'm gonna Google this," or ChatGPT or, "I'm gonna look this up." And I'm like, "Wait, before you go to the computer, before you go and look on something, like, sit with your own, like, thoughts.

Sketch it out, write it out, make a list of things that are just happening." Um, because I, I do think that when you then go and look at YouTube or TikTok or you see somebody doing something different, you're like, "Oh, shoot," like, "Should I not be doing that? Should I not...

Like, maybe that's not right." You were talking about our clothes earlier, like-

Are you into American football, or do you just like to enjoy watching it for the ad- the ads?

No.

So I actually am into football.

And so is this why we see your face everywhere, that you've been sort of the fa- that you've become the face of Thought Matter?

Yes.

Um, I've, I- it's f- it's funny that you say that 'cause there's been so many [laughs] times I'm like, "Oh, I gotta give ano- I have a headshot." Um, but there has been, um, a lot of conversations about what and how do you talk about work.

And I mean, you obviously, uh, with Creative Boom have been so wonderful in uplifting and amplifying voices.

And I feel like people wanna know the people behind the work and behind the stories and behind, um, what, what's happening.

And so, um, I, I guess, you know, have, have been, have been that person.

Um, I also think that that has played a, a role in, uh, my own leadership because I love being able to work with designers and strategists and writers, uh, to help shape how to talk about the work.

I mean, I'm talking and being very vague, but you know what I'm saying.
