What are your thoughts on the current car-centric culture that we have in the West and also the lack of bus culture that we have in the West?
18:30
Yeah, I think that's a good question and I think I'd like to also throw in the mix active transport and bikes because I had an e-bike for a while which I loved.
18:41
I loved getting around on that and I had two little kids on the back and that was because I'm far away from the station and so I needed it to get into, you know, the village and to trains and to childcare.
18:53
But...
18:56
There are some real issues with active transport because we still have a lot of trucks on the road.
19:01
You know, we've got air pollution in the inner west and it's not always safe unless you're on back streets.
19:08
So I think that...

21:10
Why did you sign the bus pledge?
15:52
Okay, so what's changed since we last spoke?
15:55
So since we last spoke, I think we spoke in August when these massive industrial power poles were popping up in residential streets in Yarraville, down the road from the data centre in West Footscray.
16:06
There have been a number of protests and community continuing to raise its voice against what's happening, both with the actual data centre and the impacts on the surrounding neighbourhoods and the electricity grid.
16:19
Yesterday, we had an announcement that the shares were...
16:25
Share trading was paused for Next DC.
16:29
They cited local residents' protests and the energy supply pause, so in relation to the power poles that they have paused installing due to the residents protesting about them.
16:42
They cited that as a reason for the shares...
17:22
But explain the size to our listeners of the data centre and what it sounds like in the community.
43:17
so you heard that caller then, but did you get the right of reply when they put the one up in your area?
43:23
Well, so it's just down the road from where I am in Yarraville.
43:26
There's a Westwoods Grey data centre.
43:28
And I think residents at the time, a few years ago when it was built, they didn't realise what was coming.
43:34
And I think that there's been a slow realisation across the area that You know, in Yarraville, I think a lot of people have no idea there's one up the road until these huge power poles have been going up in residential streets in Yarraville to help serve the electricity demand of these massive centres that are going up.
43:53
And no, I think the community would say, you know, the community that's right next door to the data centres would say that they were not properly consulted or informed about what this would mean for them.
44:01
It's right across the road from houses.
44:43
Can you explain to me how big this one is? If I was to describe how many stories is it, how much land does it take up and does it overshadow homes?
