But important to note, like we do tons of collaboration with our other state partners in this space and how that role, how we integrate with that and how that plays into some of the work with physicians too.

Yeah, I love talking about this because I think this is a way that we really try to serve taxpayers by improving the efficiency of all of our agency's individual efforts by working together.

And in fact, for something like this, you can't be successful in responding to something like Screwworm unless you have cooperation between multiple agencies.

So We have a steering committee comprising members from multiple state agencies, but primarily from the Department of Natural Resources, Fish and Wildlife Division, the State Board of Animal Health, which is responsible for the health of domestic animals in the state, and then us here at the Indiana Department of Health.

And we have a response team that meets monthly, more frequently if necessary, to exchange information about changes each of our agency's individual efforts and needs regarding response activities for various disease conditions that can affect both animals and people, and both wild and domestic animals.

And so we've been communicating regularly about Screw Worm for months now, and communicating about information exchange, data exchange, the national picture, surveillance efforts, It's really helpful to have those partners – have a relationship with those partners before something happens so that if something happens, we can respond much more quickly because we all know each other and we know what our agency's roles are.

Fortunately, we haven't had the need to mobilize a response yet.

So I kind of stayed back.

And while you pull that up, I'll tell your listeners that one thing is they knew that if it's going to be a jurisdiction of the federal government, it has to be uniform throughout the states.

So that's one thing to keep in mind is what always needs to be uniform.

And I'll give a few examples of that.

For example, standardized weights and measurements.

So of course those couldn't be different in different states.
