Mm-hmm.
17:20
So leadership is really that influence.
17:22
It's the relationships that we build, it's the connection, the trust that we establish, and the ability to influence laterally up and down the chain, and that does not require the title.
17:36
So you start to see the people who really are hungry to make a positive difference.
17:43
Maybe they're looking to take on more.
17:45
Maybe they're willing to bring other departments in on something where there have been silos.
17:52
Those are some of the factors that stand out.

6 MINS LATER

23:42
Yeah.
6:35
And so how do these tests help talk about that and, and how we can communicate better as a team?
6:42
Absolutely.
6:43
I think this is, this is the point where they start to come together, right? So knowing some of these stress triggers about myself over here under the positive intelligence framework is one thing.
6:54
How do they show up as I communicate now? What's that language that I might use under stress? And so in the DiSC assessment, there are four main types of, of communication styles, and I might be that person who wants the bulleted bottom line up front, no emotion around it, don't give me any background right up front, just give me the bullets.
7:15
And yet, when we are communicating that to other people who have different tendencies, some might be more relational, some are looking more for a bit of that stability in the language of how does this impact us as a team or, and the longevity of the project, and some are going to want all the details.
7:36
They want to understand the data, the research, whatever behind that information.
7:42
So if I know that I'm that D bullet person, and I'm trying to communicate with team members who have a different approach, as that controller, I'm going to get frustrated with that D style.

13:00
Stress starts to go up, and people start reacting differently under stress, don't they? What's that look like?
18:09
How do people start noticing when they're reacting instead of leading?
18:13
Such a great question.
18:14
First, there's not like an overnight fix for this, unfortunately.
18:17
It starts with the small steps of recognizing on where am I showing up stressed and paying attention to how others are receiving that.
18:27
So I did a training with senior law enforcement officials not long ago.
18:32
And I asked this question, where have I reacted in a way that I wish I hadn't? Have I snapped at someone? Have I just been short and irritated with myself? Maybe I'm running late for something and I'm not showing up as my best self.
18:53
And that can be the start of it.

9 MINS LATER

27:45
Dig those fingernails into that hand.
14:21
Have you got any tips, tools, techniques to help people sort of manage that, to get out of autopilot when they should?
14:30
Yes.
14:31
Yes.
14:31
And I think you've talked about this too, right? The idea of catching it, being aware of what's going on and really naming it in a way of an external way of saying, okay, this is what's happening.
14:46
It's not me.
14:47
I'm not doing something wrong.
14:49
It's just, you know, this is the stress trigger that is showing up.

26 MINS LATER

41:05
Don't
