Let me let me ask you guys, Jeff, what do you think about the inclusion of Jean Grey in this story and her being really the the antagonist here? maybe we don't even want to call her a villain, but she's the antagonist for this film, Jeff.
24:32
Yeah, it threw me a little because I still feel like they haven't necessarily given Tom Holland a movie in which Spider-Man just gets to do Spider-Man stuff.
24:43
A lot of them have felt like kind of either extremely connected to other MCU stuff or setting up other MCU stuff.
24:50
And so that was a little bit of a disappointment for me that this was the introduction of the X-Men to the MCU.
24:57
But I think that, again, going back to kind of a script level, I think that she worked as... a good antagonist because she's not, you know, she's not Scorpion.
25:08
He's just an idiot swinging around the tail and trying to steal stuff.
25:11
Like she's got some damage to her.

20 MINS LATER

45:38
Yeah.
3:02
Mm-hmm.
3:02
Like, like writing-wise.
3:03
I mean, you had some of the all-time greats.
3:05
You had Marv Wolfman writing episodes.
3:07
You had dudes who'd go on to write, you know, the, a bunch of the Star Wars stuff and create all these shows and everything writing on Batman.
3:14
And, like, so from a young age, I kind of, it kind of incepted itself into my head that, like, oh, you can tell good stories, like, within the animation format.
3:26
And of course, you know, being a kid at the time and loving those shows, I got into the X-Men, you know, and Marvel trading cards, and I learned a lot about the superhero.

40 MINS LATER

43:13
Mm.

Ken MHOST
4:24
Mm-hmm
4:24
... pe- when I've worked with the Man of Action guys or worked with, like, producers like John Rogers or things like that, um, they- they call the shots, right? They have their...
4:33
Either they call the shots or the people above them call the shots.
4:36
When I was working on Mega Man, there was I think, like, three layers above even Man of Action, 'cause you had Capcom, you [laughs] had the pu- you had the, uh, or you had the, the animation company, you had all this stuff.
4:49
So this was me, like, actually just being the boss, having to make all these decisions myself, right? Like, I- I couldn't kind of fall back on here's the Bible that I've been handed, here's all that.
5:00
So, which is really freeing, but also really scary, right?

21:41
Yeah.
21:41
'Cause I've seen a ton of hau- I've read a ton of haunted house books.
34:06
Thank you for making that better.
34:09
But I think what we have here is pretty much like they look, I think probably they looked at X-Men and they're like, when they got the assignment for this and they're like, okay, what stories do we want to tell? How do we combine them together? Because again, like going, since I was watching the first season, there's a lot of stuff that they like Genosha and the, And the Operation Zero Tolerance stuff were totally different storylines that they then mushed together.
34:34
Genosha had some elements of the Hickman Krakoa stuff in it, like some stuff from New X-Men.
34:40
And so they're like, we have this opportunity.
34:43
The way I look at it is if I were given X-Men, and I suspect based on the passion of these writers...
34:49
I would go, okay, I have X-Men.
34:51
The realism of this is I'm going to get 10 episodes a season.

29 MINS LATER

So we're both right.

Network.
9:34
When I approached writing the action stuff, yeah, it's tricky because you have to... you have to figure out how to do it in within the panel format.
9:43
And there are some books that do it really well.
9:45
Like, like, I don't know if you've ever read the gunsmith cats manga.
9:50
Yes.
9:51
Yeah.

30 MINS LATER

RyanHOST
39:58
Absolutely.
