70:23
That was.
70:23
Yeah.
70:23
Yeah.
70:24
They, they put on, that's the whole Ashland crew.
70:27
Um, and it's, you know, I know most of those guys from my Oregon days, um, And so I know almost every single person working that aid station.
70:35
So it's a great aid station to come to.
70:37
I'm always in a rush through that one, though, because you're always racing and it's like at mile 90.

11 MINS LATER

81:42
Yeah.
67:12
I'm on prednisone at the moment, and, um, I, I mean, that's why I didn't do Badwater because I didn't want to get accused of-
67:17
of-[laughs] Uh, y- that's cra- yeah.
67:22
Sorry, that was a dark vision- Yeah, it's crazy right now ... continue.
67:24
Um, it, I just don't know if social media's the place to have this discussion, right? Are you telling me- Like, I think a long form podcast in person, right, is probably a better setting, right? Yeah.
67:37
Where you can go back and forth and be respectful to someone.
67:41
Comments, like, they're, people are, like, when you don't have to face someone- 100% ... like, it's just, like, people can be mean and stupid and petty and, uh, that's why you know aren't gonna see me comment on anything because I'm just like, "I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna engage there." That's a bad place for engagement.
68:00
I think the best per- the person who's doing the best right now is Zach Bitter, and he's just doing education.

14 MINS LATER

82:17
[chuckles]
1:04
The beats per minute can help you hold a pace, or as Jeff Browning says...
1:09
I always have looked at my music as my pacer.
1:11
I save it like till the second half.
1:14
And so I have to go with no music the first half and then like somewhere to drop bag or crew spot.
1:18
Like I get my headphones, hook up to my Bluetooth on my watch or my phone.
1:23
The beauty is Garmin watch now like can connect to Spotify and you can have a downloaded playlist.
1:29
So I download that playlist and I play that during a race as my pacer.
1:34
At the Arkansas Traveler 100-mile race, Jeff recalls a more wired version of his strategy.
12:32
... collision has culminated with this new dual partnership.
12:36
I mean, like I said before, I alluded to that we were the first, you know, one of the first athletes on the Patagonia, or the grassroots Patagonia ultrarunning team in '06.
12:45
Fast-forward to, like, the early 2010s, I came over as a, a contract ambassador for Patagonia Trail Running, team Trail Running, and, um, Krissy was, like, instrumental in getting me that, that position.
13:00
Like, she really went to bat for me.
13:02
And then that opened up doors for us to do shared projects together, 'cause we're on the same team.
13:07
And so we went to Patagonia in of 2014, um, for a film project called Mile for Mile.
13:13
It's on my, it's on my website.

46 MINS LATER

59:07
Yeah.
18:41
[laughs]
18:41
Um, I, I mean, I love footwear.
18:43
I'm helping with innovation and, and footwear development, you know, [laughs] with Keen.
18:48
So I'm really, like, this is a passion for me.
18:51
I do think there's a balance between the two, and I agree with Ian on this, where I think you wanna be in a more minimal shoe part, part of the time.
18:59
Some of your easy runs, foot strengthening, going to the grocery store.
19:03
You know, really using those kind of more natural foot, low drop shoes to, like, strengthen your feet passively in, like s- like, shorter, easy runs.

10 MINS LATER

29:41
[laughs]
