Geoff, could you give our listeners a little bit of a explainer of how AI is changing or holds a prospect to change things disruptively in the exploration phase of the mining cycle?
9:04
Yeah.
9:04
There's, uh, there's a lot there to unpack, of course.
9:06
Um, and, uh, perhaps indeed I would say AI, uh, by itself and what is AI may not necessarily be the first order thing.
9:16
I think the first order thing is, is that the, the decision-making behind AI is asking us to change a mindset.
9:23
Um, I was recently at a conference in, uh, in, uh, Perth and, um, I told the audience this, "The best hole you may ever drill may actually have no minerals in it." And so the reason for that is, is that, uh, we tend to drill to get confirmation of what we wanna see as opposed to falsification of we believe, you know, is a hypothesis.
9:43
And, and you point out a very important point is that, you know, data is important, yes, but at the early stages of exploration, there's actually very few data, uh, certainly on, in, in the ground truth.

9 MINS LATER

What do we actually mean about decision-grade, or what do you mean by decision-grade AI when mining data are sparse or incomplete? And how should uncertainty, explainability, and human judgment be built into decisions that affect drilling through some of this technology?
