I know, but it's a real thing.

And hey, even that is a real prayer that you can actually do in your kitchen and say in your kitchen, Holy Spirit, activate your power in my life right now, because we don't activate his power, right? Right.

It's not like we can't like flip a switch.

It's really about recognizing, okay, this is important.

It's about recognizing that he is not an it.

It's actually this invitation to press further in to God and say, even to the Holy Spirit, help my unbelief.

Yes.

Doing those things made me very focused on getting short-term results that were often guilt-driven.

They were just watching the jelly beans, but they weren't thinking about really the behavior.

And as parents, it's so easy to think about the short-term, but ultimately, our goal and our desire should be long-term heart transformation by Jesus Christ and by his grace, an eternal perspective in parenting versus, you know, I want easy and I want it now.

Okay, well, that's great, but how is this gonna benefit my five-year-old when he's 15?

Yeah.

And what Elise encourages us to do is, is to step back and first say, what did Jesus do? So let me give you an example.

Uh, in parenting, there are three Rs that I try to remember when I am thinking about what did Jesus do and what would he do, uh, and it's remember, it's rely, and it's recognize.

Yeah.

And the older you get, in the words of my s- okayThe older you get, I hope, I pray to God, the more you will realize that He is life, and there is no life outside of Him.

And so I will talk about Him all day long because He is everything, and I don't know who I'd be or where I'd be without Him.

My son Brennan, who is, as you know, just a joy bomb, and has also, and he would let me say this, been, has taught me the most about my weaknesses in parenting him.

Learning how to parent Brennan specifically has had its challenges, and I, I couldn't be a bigger fan of the kid.
