Well, first of all, she was born in Avondale House, was there for her first seven years before her father died and the family moved away, and I think really her mother, her American mother, was a big influence on the family, and particularly on the girls because she encouraged them to, uh, get to, get involved in politics, to listen to what was being said, and she exposed them to politics all, really all over the world because she took them to America, she took them to Europe, uh, to the UK.

And also I would think that Charles Stewart Parnell had an influence, some influence, because I'm sure they discussed around the table the politics of the day.

The men were going to be arrested, so they needed to keep their Land League going, and the idea was a Ladies' Land League would be a good idea, and Anna could head it up and keep this going.
