So, Jaya, as we are having this conversation during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, could you share a few thoughts about what this month means to you?

October has been celebrated as the Domestic Violence Awareness Month since 1987.

And this is a time for everybody to stand together, raise awareness, support survivors and communities.

Very importantly, remember those whose lives have been lost to domestic violence.

You know, in last year, in 2025, in California alone, there were 135 domestic violence related homicides.

This is only about the known cases that came up and then they were able to identify the cause for why the murder homicides happened.

So that is 135.
