How did you get into this thing that we call music? When was the first time you thought, I want to pick up a guitar and start playing?

My father was a staggeringly good pianist and church organist.

He was actually an organ scholar at the Guildhall in London.

And he played the piano at home.

And he worked as an educator, teaching teachers to teach.

He was a lecturer at a teacher training college.

And in the 60s, when pop music started appearing, he was interested and he wanted to be able to teach his students guitar.

Okay.

LAUGHTER

I'm quite new to the game, to be honest.

I've competed in three Backyard Ultras.

I'll take it back a bit.

I started doing hiking in Wales, which is quite local to me, at weekends.

I had two daughters and I wanted to start getting back.

So I started running in the mountains rather than hiking.

yeah yeah unreal you mentioned that you're from wales
