A lot of Canadians are saying, well, if we produce all this oil, why would a bottleneck in oil in the Strait of Hormuz affect us? What's the kind of line there? And why do we let that world price, which is, of course, what happens, the world price moves, affect us when we have so much oil of our own? I'm going to start with you, Jay, but I want Susanna to answer this too.
1:52
There's a lot behind it, a lot of complexity in that question.
1:56
I'll try to unpack it a little bit by making two or three points.
1:59
And I know Susanna has a lot to say as well.
2:01
So between the two of us, we'll try and simplify it for your listeners.
2:05
I think the first and most important thing to think about is that, you know, this always goes back to, and Amanda, we've talked about this many, many times, the Canada-U.S. relationship.
2:16
And really, we're a net exporter to the U.S. mostly because we produce a ton of oil and they need a ton of oil.

40:16
Are we ready for this?
10:26
That takes a lot of capital.
10:27
Sure does.
10:28
And at the end of the day, you know, we want to focus and be disciplined and rigorous and targeted.
10:33
And so that project list, as Yoda said, we should focus on the first few.
10:37
Because what I would argue in the short term, we're going to have to provide some assistance federally and provincially to get these things up and off the ground.
10:45
Not a whole lot of taxpayer money, but things that can catalyze.
10:48
And so that's where you really need to understand what's making these projects tick on a financial basis, what gets them to financial goals.

28:13
Yeah.
6:51
Should we be becoming an energy superpower in a real way?
6:54
Yeah, I think we should be in all of the above superpower, to be honest.
6:59
We've often talked about energy superpower.
7:01
That was clearly the mantra under the Harper era.
7:04
And to some degree, even under the Trudeau regime on clean energy, we were working on that.
7:09
But when I say all of the above, I'm talking about our producing sectors.
7:13
I kind of feel like the country might have lost its way a little bit in terms of its economic engines.
