So listen, Jay, what are you particularly good at, okay? What's a skill you have or something that you can do that really stands out to others?
J
24:02Jay ElliottGUEST
Do you know what? I think talking about being on the tools and talking about your skills within work is all great, but I think every good tradesman obviously has their niches.
J
24:12Jay ElliottGUEST
But I'd say one of my biggest strengths r- running my business is probably my communication skills between my customers, uh, my suppliers- Et cetera, et cetera.
J
24:23Jay ElliottGUEST
It, it's, uh, I think it's all well and good saying that I'm better at this or better than that on the tools than somebody else, but I, I really think my communication skills between my, between my clients, et cetera, i- is probably where I feel like I, I stand out from my business.

Jay, you're 27, so you've hopefully matured, okay? Tell us how you've sort of changed since you started with your dad years ago.
J
25:09Jay ElliottGUEST
Like I said earlier, I think most youngsters, as we all do, we think we genuinely know everything.

And obviously, as soon as you actually put down to do something, you realise, wow, this isn't as easy as it looks.

okay brilliant so so you're still in that position where you love the fact that people you go you're going with your personality you go on you do the job you deliver it you you give them a good experience and then from that they're going around someone saying who did that amazing gazebo for you and they said that was carpentry by jay here's his number and it's working really well you find that is the most effective route for bringing work into your business is there anything else that you're doing to get leads

I actually used ChatGBT the other week to create some posters with the help of my friend Jamie from Nailed It to Have You, put me onto ChatGBT and I did a winter deal with a 10% off and posted that all over Facebook, all over your local community pages, which is also great because once again, if you have word of mouth and I can ask a client specifically Like per se, if you can share the work that I've done and just say you're happy, like that goes through all Facebook pages.

Of course, all areas of social media, I've actually managed to pull already about three, four jobs in from Instagram this year, which has been absolutely wicked.
J

like but obviously it's yeah it still all feels like it stems from word of mouth really even though it goes through social media and obviously people can look at your work but nothing nothing beats that recommendation
J

um gave it just a a couple of ideas basically saying like obviously from love conversions to general joinery etc etc put into what i wanted it to do and then to create basically just a nice looking poster with with quite bright colors to obviously like draw you in so it it Yeah, that was pretty much it really.

Just uploaded my photos, gave it a couple of nudges in an idea of what I wanted, what we actually do within the business and it honestly just did the rest.
