I'm convinced that The Omen was absolutely cursed, so I took the time to chat with writer-director Jay Cheal, who made the TV docuseries Cursed Films on Shudder, to see what he thinks about the stories surrounding The Omen, Wizard of Oz, and other film sets, and whether film sets can even be cursed.

I'm Jay Cheal, a documentary filmmaker from Toronto, Ontario.

And I'm a big film fan, of course.

And the Cursed Films interest kind of came, it came to me initially from Shudder, who were internally kind of thinking about the idea.

And A friend of mine who was working there at the time thought I would be a good fit because I had just finished a short film about – I grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario, which is near Niagara Falls.

And there was a movie theater there.

There still is.

And a lot of those safety violations at the end of the day, it was like right when the unions were starting to be organized and they were mixing metal and aluminum into face paint or whatever, just causing-

They're actually really similar.

Yeah.

Yeah.

But going to Bond, you deal with going from game to game, the sluggishness.

Suddenly it feels overly sluggish.

But once I got into the groove, I actually found the gun combat.

really satisfying like the the combination of the haptic feedback the the way in which the i guess animations feel like it's it's realistic feeling but not to the point where it's so animated that it feels clunky because you're waiting for animations to play out or whatever so i was kind of surprised how arcadey or like twitchy the gunplay felt to me.
