You're my brother, not my sister

... well, thank- well, yeah.

I start, I've always made things, and I've always wanted to create my own work, and I don't like to wait for permission to create.

So I'm always in process of what I'd like to do, and I started off with the idea, 'cause I had done this film called Hank where I played this really quiet character.

And as Julie knows, 'cause she's known me forever, and Alexandra is, I'm a talker.

So I wanted to paint people without a voice.

I love Terrence Malick films.

Oh, wow.

Who are the best actors you've seen, in your mind?

Well, there's nobody that can top Meryl Streep.

I think if Viola Davis had the same opportunities, she'd be in the same class.

She just sort of fell in line because people saw her gift.

You know, for me, they didn't see it.

They just saw some funny gay guy and, you know, who probably, uh, was limited, and that's, that's why to this day, Nate Parker is, can't do no wrong for me.

I love him so much.

Yeah.

And what were some of the lessons that you learned from watching Miss Streisand that helped you grow as a professional?

Well, be unapologetic about who you are.

She was unapologetic.

She never made an excuse, and I think that's, you know, with that whole hoo-ha with Lea Michele and Beanie Feldman playing, uh, Fanny Brice, and what was so, um...

Fa- first, Beanie Feldman is a wonderful actress.

If you saw her play Monica Lewinsky, she was brilliant and, and, uh, so many, uh, Smart Book and so many other things that she's done.

She's just a brilliant actor.

So can you share the origin of the committee's formation with the audience?
