Jason ShepherdGUEST
So, you know, my lab, we've been mostly interested in, um, molecular mechanisms of memory storage and how memories are encoded in the brain.

Jason ShepherdGUEST
Um, and we know that when you learn something, a whole new gene program gets turned on in neurons, and most of those genes are master transcription factors that induce a wave of expression to modify the state of the cell so that it, it can encode information.

Jason ShepherdGUEST
Um, but a couple of these so-called immediate early genes, um, encode proteins that are not transcription factors, and Arc is one of them.
