So talk us through a few of the amazing things that you do at Better Mental that includes with obviously the run group as well.
5:48
Yeah, so Better Mental started off as, I just started online sharing with people that you don't have to be locked into those challenges, those emotional challenges and so forth.
6:01
But it started off, I just told people, run and everything changes.
6:04
Fair enough.
6:05
which that's the starter, but it's not the whole envelope.
6:09
So we started off with all it was was an online presence and then we started in our local area, Trafalgar, doing a first Tuesday of the month where we'd meet up with people and just open the conversation about mental health and I'd share my story and allow others in to share theirs.
6:28
So When we did that, we were surprised with how many people would turn up.

14:35
How did that all come about and how did you feel during it?
JessHOST
4:54
Mm-hmm.
4:55
Getting into some trouble, but not too much trouble.
4:58
And just feeling that real community connection.
5:01
The only thing was that in Gisborne, it's not a well-to-do area, but it's a well-off area.
5:08
Like nobody's struggling.
5:10
And then they got a few commissioners.
5:14
And so being poor shone out.

it just got bigger with us and

So if you want to be a runner but you don't have a good pair of runners or you don't have runners, then that's not a tick in the favour of the identity you
34:41
want.
34:41
But you know what I did with the running? So I tell everybody, the thing you don't want to do with anything in life is make a massive change straight up because what that does is it causes overwhelm.
34:51
And what overwhelm causes is to fear.
34:53
Fear takes us into our subconscious mind.
34:55
Subconscious mind, we're back in our patterns straight away.
34:57
So start small.

But for you, it sounds like it made a massive difference.
