It really started with the iPhone, I think, where you had this big hurrah when a new iPhone would come out and the iPhone stores would have People queuing and clapping you as you walked in to buy your $1,500 iPhone.

And then I can have a slice of the pizza and, you know, it'll probably be pizza.

Is this a Gen Z thing? You don't see, you know, older people doing

this kind of nonsense.

So what happened was when I was, so at 17, I left school, well, I finished my Leaving Cert, back then I was 17, did a year in catering school, and then I had to take a year off, so I did a sales and marketing course.

And eight months through that, in the February, I was sitting beside a guy in college, in Crumlin College, so I was working at night as a waiter, and then during the day doing this.

And this guy said to me, I'm going for the interview today.

I said, oh, where are you going? He said, oh, Disney in Paris.

Now, this is Euro Disney back then.

I mean, when did this shift happen, Jason, that, you know, I suppose for, I'm not talking about Tipperary, but more generally that, you know, a lot of people, I suppose, they opt to take out the phone and record the incident rather than stop and call 999?

This goes back to the, believe it or not, to the 60s.

There's a very famous psychology case which we study in college about a lady called Kitty Genovese who was attacked in New York in 64.

And there was 38 witnesses who witnessed the attack, but nobody came to help.

So it's quite interesting that we see now, 60 years later, people being attacked, as you say, not specifically in this video so much, but in other videos, people have been beaten up, people have been in distress, people drowning.

Even more recently, the terrible tragedy in Switzerland with the nightclub where people were filming the fire rather than having the awareness to leave the scene.

you going looking for it, Jason, I mean, often the content is fed to you while you're, you know, you might be looking at a clip of something you wanted to see or sought out and next thing, the video that you had no interest in looking at or maybe you were trying to avoid appears up on your phone and there's no getting away from it.
