Yeah.
26:38
And if you've studied this and you look at the advertising from 100 years ago, it was always like, hey, let's get these machines into the home, the washing machines, the dishwashers.
26:49
It was always like, we're going to make women's lives easier.
26:52
They're in the home, and it's going to free up all their time, and they'll just be able to have lives of leisure around the house.
26:59
I mean, nothing could be further from the truth.
27:02
I mean, we heard the same things with the word processors and spreadsheets.
27:07
you know, the more you automate the tedious daily tasks in the office, you know, we'll get down to a seven hour work week because you can just, all the things that used to take all this time, we don't have to do it anymore.
28:51
How then do you think we maintain our humanity today?

35:55
The world has said no.
35:56
And so there's a value in that, right? Because it makes it clear where the world is trying to get to rather than just leaving it open.
36:03
Well, stuff happens, so, you know, if somebody's gonna use it, then everybody should use it.
36:08
That's just not a great argument, right? It doesn't get us anywhere towards a more peaceful world.
36:12
So I think there's a value that we shouldn't dismiss just because there are some bad actors.
36:17
And in fact, once you have a treaty like that in place, you can point to countries and say, "Hey, with respect to your use of landmines, you're now a bad actor," right? Like, the world is moving in this direction.
36:29
The fact that you're a superpower doesn't give you moral permission to do that.
38:17
... uh, are, are you hopeful?
5:51
So, you know, what do you think they are solving for here, and, and perhaps more importantly, what's not being solved with this kind of initiative?
5:59
Yeah.
5:59
So in the work that I do, the research, I'm concerned primarily with safety, AI safety.
6:03
So what kinds of harms are people s- you know, subjected to, uh, by virtue of there being these types of big models, AI models out in the world? So that's part of what I do in my research.
6:15
And, uh, you know-I hear a lot of talk about the importance of AI security and, and, you know, cybersecurity generally.
6:23
It's absolutely critical, obviously.
6:25
Uh, we need to keep, um, systems secure.
10:36
You know, is, is, are, is this all a losing battle or is this, is this viable at all?
