But

no, I do say what if about that season as well, because we did have the pieces that we needed that we were from when you got there.

to that year those the previous two years we had everything and we were good and i'm not saying it would have been me or not but um in order to win in this game you have to have Everybody has, you have to stay healthy, number one, but number two, you have to have the pitching and you have to, and this is what gets carried away with baseball sometimes, and this is when I was with the Royals, and this is why they won, is everybody on that team in 2014 and 15, they did what they were capable of doing as opposed to trying to do too much.

And that was us in 99.

We knew who we were, we knew what we could do, and we knew how we could help this team get to the next level.

So that's what, what if I think probably obsessed me more, not just, oh, I was having a great year, but I did.

I knew what I could do.

Talk about that and then the transition into 2000 and the hunger you had because you obviously had to be hungry.

Whoever comes to mind, maybe two or three like tidbits that you got that really helped your career.

Um- I, I think the one thing I took away from my father's era was play the game hard, and which fit in perfect with the city of Pittsburgh.

Um, you, you play the game hard.

You, you do any and everything you can on every pitch, whether it be taking out a guy, getting a guy over, what- the- just the knowing the game.

Um, I took that from his career.

I mean, you can look at highlights where, I mean, you have guys [laughs] taking, like tackling, talking about breaking up double plays, tackling guys into left field and the collisions at home plate.

Obviously that's not, that doesn't ha- it's not happened now and the rules, and, and I, I understand why, but everybody says, "Well, you know, you go out and you have fun." I did have fun.
