57:21
Everything all right up the Gold Coast?
57:23
Going well, mate.
57:24
We've a fair bit of rain predicted, but it's held off at the moment.
57:26
I've got, uh, I've actually got a little mate up here.
57:29
You'd know him quite well, Sug.
57:30
Zaky Wolford.
57:30
He's, uh, he's upstairs-
59:14
Toots? What have you got for us?
98:01
Oh
98:01
... me and the mate had a cracking weekend, everything all sorted, and Toyota Forklifts, they just, they, they ran a great ship.
98:06
So yeah, really good day.
98:07
Um, Tempted was very good.
98:09
I, I was, I was a little bit shocked.
98:11
I, I thought, I thought Kaying or Rosen would just, uh, just lap him.
98:14
But, uh, yeah, Tempted too good there and, uh, yeah, cracking day and, uh, plenty of, plenty of action on course, mate, and, uh, yeah, really enjoyed it.
102:09
if you're the England camp?
2:25
How'd you go, mate?
2:26
Yeah, I had a good day, a very good day.
2:28
The Mob at Toyota Forklifts, they set it up and organised it, and look, it's one of the great days, and I've got to give a shout-out to my lovely wife, Brittany, because last minute our babysitter bailed, and we didn't have a babysitter, so I had to bring my mate next door, my neighbour down, and leave Brittany at home, so...
2:46
Me and the mate had a cracking weekend, everything all sorted, and Toyota Forklifts, they ran a great ship.
2:51
So, yeah, really good day.
2:53
Tempted was very good.
2:54
I was a little bit shocked.
5:50
I mean, what do you do? What do you do if you're the England camp?
speaker_8NARRATOR
56:50
Do you like anything?
56:51
Yeah.
56:51
Well, I'm going down to it, so I better start doing a bit more of it.
56:54
I'm, I'm looking forward to that.
56:55
But it...
56:55
Mate, it's hard to go past the good horse, isn't it? Um, Kaiying Rising.
56:59
I've, I've...
speaker_8NARRATOR
59:30
Wings, beers, and sporting glory, only at Winghouse.
88:22
What have you taken personally from your season this year, and what are some of the aspects that I guess you wanna, you know, improve on, you know, in year two up there at Manly?
88:31
Yeah, I think, um, just my relationship with all the boys.
88:34
Obviously I was new to the club and I kinda didn't really know where I, where I stood, if I could really, um, rip into blokes and, and chip 'em because I kind of wanted to get to know them first.
88:43
Whereas now I know I've got a relationship with the boys, I can actually fully be myself and, um, speak freely without it, without the boys taking it personally.
88:51
I think that's obviously a massive part that I wanna improve on.
88:54
And then probably being more selfish in my own game.
88:57
Obviously I, I base my game around being selfless and I had a couple of conversations towards the back end of the season with Foz and, um, my last meeting I had with him before I went on off-season duties, and he, he just said he just wants me to, to back myself and believe in what I can do and be selfish at times.
90:21
How could we forget him? Um, but yeah, um, Toots, what are your, what are your thoughts on the Rugby League World Cup and this match in particular?
5:20
So you guys might be thinking, "You know what? Maybe dreams are free for 2027."
5:25
Yeah, I think, um, you know, everyone probably agreed with us when we rolled out the same, you know, 19 each week.
5:30
We probably played our best football.
5:31
And, um, we've got a style that we all understand, and, um, the way that Foz wants us to play, we believe in.
5:37
Um, so for us, I think it's just we just need a little bit of luck with body health, mate, just like every other club.
5:42
And, um, for us it's about consistency.
5:44
Obviously we started slow, um, found our groove mid-part, and then we kind of fell away, like especially myself with individual form and, you know, the squad wasn't going well.
8:16
How could we forget him? Um, but yeah, um, Tootsie, what are your, what are your thoughts on the Rugby League World Cup and this match in particular?
72:26
Oh.
72:26
But anyway, they, they did.
72:27
They got away with it.
72:28
And, um, the Knights, like, any other side would've crumbled under that pressure and, um, you know, leaked a lot more points.
72:35
So fair play to the Knights, uh, for hanging on there.
72:37
But yeah, I was a bit surprised in that as well.
72:40
But, uh, look, it was a tough game.
73:19
Yeah.
71:33
Yeah.
71:34
Um, none of them.
71:34
It's...
71:35
Yeah.
71:36
Um, he, he's a big game goal kicker, Sammy Walker.
71:38
He, he showed us that in origin.
71:39
Like, I didn't think he...

7 MINS LATER

78:12
He's ridden some of the sport's greatest horses ever, and recently became the first jockey to reach 2,000 wins in Hong Kong, including his ride in September, this ride in September, aboard an absolute champion.
62:01
week of the grand final? Were you guys nervous or what was sticky sort of? What was his advice?
62:09
Nah, well, I remember myself and you were talking about Hodjo there, Josh Hodgson and Papa and Jacko and Elliot.
62:16
We had a fairly experienced group, Jordan Rapner and we were, I remember we had guys in there like Emre Goulas and Corey Horsborough and Hudson wasn't playing but Tommy Starling, that was their first year of NRL and some of them blokes were playing in a grand final.
62:31
I just remember getting up straight after the game and just saying, do not even think about one bit of complaining this week.
62:36
Just enjoy everything.
62:37
If the media wants to talk to you, if someone wants to do something, if a fan wants a photo, an autograph, don't let it overwhelm you because they planned it really well.
62:45
We had a big week and had plenty to do in Canberra.
65:50
I remember when you guys were in the grand final, there was a butcher who was selling the green sausages and all this sort of caper starts to happen, doesn't it? Is there anything trivial like that that you remember?
4:46
the grand final? Were you guys nervous or what was sticky sort of? What was his advice?
4:52
Nah, well, I remember myself and you were talking about Hodjo there, Josh Hodgson and Papa and Jacko and Elliot.
5:00
We had a fairly experienced group, Jordan Rapner and we were, I remember we had guys in there like Emre Guliz and Corey Horsborough and Hudson wasn't playing but Tommy Starling, that was their first year of NRL and some of them blokes were playing in a grand final.
5:14
I just remember getting up straight after the game and just saying, do not even think about one bit of complaining this week.
5:19
Just enjoy everything.
5:20
If the media wants to talk to you, if someone wants to do something, if a fan wants a photo, an autograph, don't let it overwhelm you because they planned it really well.
5:29
We had a big week and had plenty to do in Canberra.
8:34
I remember when you guys were in the grand final, there was a butcher who was selling the green sausages and all this sort of caper starts to happen, doesn't it? Is there anything trivial like that that you remember?
107:31
[laughs]
107:31
... of getting this far.
107:32
And, mate, they just...
107:33
And we had Matty Croker on the show last week, and he sort of said, "Well, we play to our strengths, and our strength is moving the ball." And, and that worries everyone.
107:39
I don't, I don't care who you are.
107:40
The shift, you know, you've got Kalyn Ponga, Bradman Best down those edges with their back rowers.
107:45
It, it worries everyone.
109:09
Bad timing for it.
7:51
Yeah.
7:51
You could see the emotion that was attached to it.
7:54
And I mean, I mean, we've all got kids.
7:57
Y- you know, when, when they're hurt, doesn't matter whether they're adults or they're kids, when they're hurt, they're hurt.
8:00
And you, you-- And, and the fact that he would've been so torn between his professional life and his personal life, um, in that moment, yeah, it, it would've, it just would've been so rough.
12:23
Mm.
12:23
He's very good.
12:24
Um, he's...
3:03
I
3:03
was a rooster as a kid, but then 2019, it busted me.
3:07
It busted me.
3:09
Look, mate, I'm on the Newcastle BMW.
3:11
I bought my young fella in for work today, and he's decked out in Newcastle gear.
3:15
He's turncoat as well.
3:16
So, I mean, it's really enjoyable to have someone to cheer for because I would have found it hard to cheer for the roosters or panthers, and that's just because they've been so good for so long, and you just sort of – You know, you wanted the Dolphins or the Knights to get through.
4:02
It's this young side who obviously have the belief, but they can cause an upset.
72:11
Hey, um, uh, what have you got for us, Tootsie? Uh, pens at the ready and highlights at the ready to go as well.
72:18
Yeah, we've got a little double at Bathurst tonight, boys.
72:20
We're, uh, yeah, going heading out there again, Wednesday night at Bathurst.
72:24
We're gonna start with race three, number one, Bettors Hope.
72:26
Just gets a nice draw.
72:27
Matty Ru on board.
72:28
Um, it's around the $2.20 mark.
72:54
Have we changed, um, uh, have you changed any of your opinions about the upcoming games this weekend, Toots?
69:31
Uh, what about-
69:32
I mean, Billy Smith's been pretty good, but I just think Hugo, he's full of confidence.
69:35
He's gotta be marking either Bostock or Herbie.
71:00
[laughs]
71:01
I, um...
71:01
When it happened live, like, I didn't really, I didn't really know what had happened on the field, so I don't remember, like, having to blow up or try- You don't have time anyway.
71:07
It happened that quick-
61:56
... where are you sitting on this? Do you s-
61:57
I, I...
61:58
No, I don't...
61:59
I, I like the Roosters.
62:00
I think the Roosters will win.
62:01
Um, I, I, I think the Warriors will win too, but I'll cheer for the Knights.
62:04
I, I'd like to see the Knights win, but I think the Warriors win, and I, I think...
63:50
Okay, roller, what have you got for us, Toots?
105:29
Okay.
105:29
Uh, they were, they were, they done enough.
105:31
Uh, the Cowboys were, were ordinary.
105:33
They had 18 errors in a, you know, elimination final was very ordinary.
105:36
Uh, but the Sharkies, they, they done enough and, and we touched on it earlier, um, off air.
105:42
The, the thing that could be now with the Roosters, like those, those sort of tight losses and they had a few, uh, a few chances to win that game.
105:47
I've never seen Daly Cherman miss a field goal, like, especially from that position.
107:04
Yep.
57:05
Toots?
57:06
Yep.
57:07
We are.
57:08
We're going to the Riverina Paceway again, boys, at Wagga.
57:11
We're going for a Jack Painting treble.
57:14
Great man out there.
57:15
So, yeah, we were with this one last week.
57:50
What are your tips week one,
101:41
What a blinder that kid had.
101:43
Yeah, Andy, well, he was at the Broncos last year too, wasn't he? And they moved him on and signed Jonah Pezzett as well.
101:48
So there was a bit of irony there.
101:50
But yeah, it was great to see.
101:51
He's a good kid, Kobe.
101:52
And look, every game's not going to be like that, obviously, in the NRL.
101:56
But yeah, he certainly put his best foot forward and plenty of tries and trick shots.
102:30
Isn't that a
1:37
What a blinder that kid had.
1:38
Yeah, Andy, well, he was at the Broncos last year too, wasn't he? And they moved him on and signed Jonah Pezzett as well.
1:44
So there was a bit of irony there.
1:45
But yeah, it was great to see.
1:47
He's a good kid, Kobe.
1:48
And look, every game's not going to be like that, obviously, in the NRL.
1:52
But yeah, he certainly put his best foot forward and plenty of tries and trick shots.
2:25
Isn't that a blood
57:10
They want to play the Roosters either side.
57:13
Yeah, potentially.
57:15
Yeah, I guess so.
57:16
The Roosters, they've got a whole heap out.
57:18
I would have thought that they would have wanted to see Cherry Evans and Hugo play together in the halves at least for one game.
57:24
So, yeah, there's a few...
57:27
I thought...
58:09
What do you know of him, Toots?
107:17
What would you do,
107:19
Toots? If I was the Sharks? Yeah.
107:24
Oh, I'm laughing because I just love coming into work and seeing him miserable.
107:29
Yeah, I wouldn't risk Braden Trindle.
107:31
I'd let most of them play.
107:32
Again, old boys, I wouldn't rest too many.
107:34
I think, yeah, the big dogs probably need a play.
108:59
I mean, the Raiders can't afford to lose him.
3:28
What would you do,
3:29
Toots? If I was the Sharks? Yeah.
3:35
Oh, I'm laughing because I just love coming into work and seeing him miserable.
3:39
Yeah, I wouldn't risk Braden Trindle.
3:41
I'd let most of them play.
3:42
Again, old boys, I wouldn't rest too many.
3:44
I think, yeah, the big dogs probably need a play.
5:09
I mean, the Raiders can't afford to lose him.
107:58
But I guess taking in the, the Raiders' season this year and, um, the way that hasn't gone to plan, what, what are the changes you think this side or Sticky needs to make, uh, next season?
108:09
Yeah, well, yeah, you're right, Chad, with the, the disappointment.
108:11
There's a lot of boys really upset with that before... with that result on the weekend, and that just shows how much Papa means to the club and means to the team, and he's gonna be one that's sorely missed.
108:20
And I mean, we talk about it all year.
108:21
We've spoke about it all year, how just his presence and the, and the balance of our side when Papa's there to e- be able to let guys like Zach Hosking move to the middle or, or come off the bench.
108:30
And then you've got back rows, obviously Noah Martin and Hudson Young not there.
108:34
Having those guys there with Papa, our team look completely different.
113:30
Yeah
7:06
Mm
7:06
...
7:06
the clutch moments, the grand finals.
7:09
Yeah, and I've, you know, been lucky enough, and same with Tootsie, right? We, we played a lot of footy against Adam Reynolds.
7:13
Um, and the longevity as well for someone who had to fight for that, the professionalism.
7:18
And Tootsie, you could speak a bit more.
7:19
You, you guys were similar age.
8:44
Oh
