And, you know, we come to the States and we're always going, well, why, what happened? So, Why did it take so long?
1:47
Yeah, no.
1:48
So if you look at the history of energy in this country, obviously, industrial revolution, coal was absolutely the starting point and the largest source of electricity for, gosh, over 100 years.
2:03
You know, the advent of the natural gas from oil and then obviously eventually to nuclear power.
2:13
And before all of that, you actually had hydropower, right? Dams.
2:16
You had hydro dams.
2:18
And that was the advent of electricity in this country.
6:24
Can't we diversify? Am I making sense on this?

We fear the investment knowing that the next storm could whip us right off the planet.
6:38
Sure, sure.
6:39
I think that there is a double edged sword to to right.
6:42
If you if you have any belief in climate change at all, that putting renewable resources and clean energy resources on the grid is supposed to be supportive and helpful towards cleaning the environment and hopefully trying to tackle some of these challenges with with storms and all the rest.
7:00
On the other hand, clearly understand that tropical storms and the related challenges that they come with hit the Carolinas on a regular basis.
7:10
What I will also tell you, though, is that when we design solar power plants, we design them to withstand not only hurricanes but floods, and we have enough infrastructure in them, and we put them high enough up to be able to maintain and manage in those hard situations the vast majority of the time.
7:28
So like any other power plant, you have to be resilient and set up for success and to help support the community in those challenging times.
10:10
Why? Why don't people see this and grow with it?
6:22
And we are, now what i hear from from people who really study this it's it's an all of the above approach we really do need everything right now until we we really have some maybe some energy breakthroughs like hydrogen or nuclear fusion something along those lines that's not going to happen tomorrow though uh so it sounds like we're making good progress uh with renewables and with solar let me ask you do you in terms of investors who have put their make made commitments to the solar energy industry And I don't know if you can speak broadly, very broadly on this, Jared, but have they been rewarded for their investments? Are investors making out on the solar energy industry?
7:08
You know, there have been three different sets of sort of investors in this space over the last 20 years.
7:16
We've had, the industry was, you know, 20 years ago had a federal tax credit component to it.
7:24
And that's fluctuated up and down over the last 20 years.
7:28
But there's a tax equity investor.
7:32
And that investor, I mean, think Wells Fargo, think, U.S. bank.
7:38
Think of big banks and insurance companies, MetLife, as examples that have been in for a really long time and providing that part of the stack.
9:38
How big a blow has it dealt to the solar business?
6:22
