I mean, and the fact that you guys, your dad's been doing this for so long, uh, explain the business model, and do you think that's the secret to the success? Because so many of your managers are partners.
17:27
Well, I think the notion of partnership for him came from when he was working for his father.
17:34
Um, our dad had failed out of school, had kinda failed at a few jobs, and realized, like, "I better get serious about this restaurant thing." His dad had a couple of small restaurants.
17:47
And, um, so he got serious, and he really put his head down and was working hard and felt like he was doing a good job, and he had saved up a little bit of money, and he'd asked his dad if he could buy in, and his dad said no.
18:01
And he would sorta tell you, I think, that something changed for him, and within a few weeks, he left his dad's business and- Um, reconnected with someone he knew through a mutual friend, who became his business partner, a, a guy named Jerry Orzoff.
18:16
And I think that partnership rejection made him, like, more committed to the idea of partnership, and wanting the people that are stars within the company, uh, to have the opportunity to be there right alongside with him and, and own a piece of the businesses.
18:39
And I, I think it has absolutely been a competitive advantage that on any given night there is someone in these restaurants that y- they own it.
21:51
Um, who, who came up with that idea? Was that a Kevin Berry thing? [laughs]
