Can you talk to us a little bit about the connection between Russian oil exports and fuel prices here in the United States?
11:17
Well, it's not my area of expertise.
11:21
I mean, I know that the concerns over diesel, I mean, this has been a two-part move over the last couple of weeks by the administration, right? There was a deal struck over diesel to kind of open up sanctions.
11:33
There's a lot of energy resources in Russia that has traditionally always been the case that is very much ramped up so over the course of the 21st century.
11:41
And as a part of punishing Russia for its involvement in an aggressive war against Ukraine, the U.S. has... weaned itself off and punished other allies and adversaries from using Russian oil.
11:53
So this deal that was struck to give U.S. access to diesel, more access to diesel, which I believe was about a week ago, this is the idea here that by bringing in diesel, this will, just the sheer amount flow of this resource in the United States will bring down prices and help the U.S. market that has been hurt by the Iran war, as well as other their international events.
12:26
So what do you think that reveals about divisions over U.S. policy toward Russia and Ukraine?
12:32
Well, I mean, in some in some regards, there's always been kind of a backbone of support across party lines in Congress and the U.S. government for Ukraine, both Republicans and Democrats.
