Oh my gosh, it's my pleasure.

Yeah.

So Porter's Call, a nonprofit, um, here in Franklin, started in '01.

Um, we call ourselves porters, kind of is an old tradition, 5th century, where people that were traveling, um, churches, monasteries began to open up their doors to people traveling on the road.

Uh, you didn't have to be a person of faith, but it was a great alternative to s- just sleeping under a tree or paying for an inn if you could afford it along the way.

Um, and the porter was the person who, uh, was just kind of along the road that would invite the weary traveler in, uh, and it was his job to really embody hospitality to those on the road.

Hmm, right

... 'cause even though he was a trained therapist, you have to charge your intended client for services in the clinical model.

Can you give our listeners a little background on how Porter's Call was started and what this organ- organization does for artists?

Absolutely.

I know it's a little bit of a hike.

We at Porter's Call, we really love story, and so, uh, I find the best way to, to give some of that description of how do we start, what do we do, how do we do it, is kind of just by telling a little bit of the Porter's Call story.

And so we, uh, we really started with one man named Al Andrews, uh, in two thousand one who saw that, uh, though he was a trained therapist and clinician in town, which meant that when you're a therapist in Nashville, at least part of who you're going to see are artists.

Right.
