Why does this happen?
7:33
Yeah, I think I work with a lot of families at different stages, some that are just starting to feed their babies, some that have toddlers and they're sort of wondering how to prevent selective eating.
7:45
And then also parents who have athletes or parents who maybe have had selective eaters the entire time, but now we're looking to try to help them before they go off to college or something, right? That they're worried about what are they actually going to feed themselves.

So eating can be complicated, especially in kind of the climate that we live in, where there's so much information out there and it's really hard to know what's real.
8:08
And so I think a lot of the way that we set kids up for kind of success with feeding themselves and being good eaters starts at the very beginning.
8:17
I don't really do this much anymore, but I used to teach an introduction to solids class because I felt so passionate about really starting families off with a good amount of understanding of what it takes to sort of really just be the model for good eating behaviors with kids and And I like to teach families something called the division of responsibility in feeding, which comes from the work of Ellen Satter.
8:40
And it basically states that parents or caregivers are responsible for deciding what, when, and where.
