Like what kind of, you've spoken a little bit about this, I suppose, already, but what were the kind of the root causes, in your opinion, and with the data that you collected in terms of these declining enrolments and and students being disengaged in class and feeling a bit demotivated? What were the, I suppose, the root causes in your opinion?
13:21
Yeah, well, we came to understand that students weren't walking away from languages because they didn't enjoy learning a language.
13:31
What they were stepping away from was an experience of learning that no longer felt accessible or successful.
13:40
And when we listen carefully, it's not that they had a lack of interest.
13:44
There was conversations with students around feeling embarrassed to speak, They were unsure whether they were improving and hesitant to participate unless they were certain that they had the right answer.
13:57
A lot of the disengagement does come from speaking because no other subject really relies on the demonstration of speaking, you know, I guess, performative in the classroom day to day.
