What made you choose deer farming? Why not sheep? Why not cattle? Why deer farming?

Yeah, that was interesting.

So we went to a farm advisor and we had a feasibility study done that compared sheep to deer.

We bought the farm mainly as a retirement venture so that when we wound up our other business, we wanted to live somewhere remote in the country.

My husband's a farmer's son, and so he wanted to farm the land.

So we compared 140 sheep with 40 deer.

This was the approximate amount of animals for the small farm that it could carry around.

yeah i think that answer leads us on really quite nicely to my next question which was you know i was going to talk about your diversification so you know you'd you'd bought the farm you started you went and decided that you're going to be a deer farmer what led you to start a kind of you know direct marketing what led you to putting in your own facilities to process the deer and try and sell them direct to the consumer
