So every time I have someone on, we always talk about how did you get into, whether it's DPC or concierge, just your, your practice, how did you get into that and why?
2:01
Yes.
2:02
So I'm again, fellowship trained in sports medicine.
2:04
Well, I graduated in 2021, so we were still very much in the height of the pandemic and basically sports wasn't happening.
2:12
And so, I knew that, okay, I want to work as a sports medicine physician, but if it isn't sports medicine, then I would have to do primary care.
2:22
And just in the way that I've seen primary care as a resident, I was just like, I just don't want to deal with that.
2:29
So I went into locums and I became a locum physician and I carved out sports medicine into in primary care settings during my locums.

i mean if you never make the ask you just never know right so that's great advice absolutely Anything that as you've grown your practice, anything that you felt like was maybe not the best thing to help your practice? Maybe you wouldn't have done it if you had the chance to do things over again.
6:52
And during that time, sports
6:55
was not happening.
6:56
I knew that I did not want to go solely into primary care just because it's a lot of work.
7:02
There's a lot of pressure.
7:03
There's a lot of administration.
7:05
And I really wanted to also implement my sports medicine skills because even though you go through a fellowship, you got to be in the real world, in the real sports medicine streets to implement what you've learned during fellowship because it's just one year and you have to implement what you've learned during sports medicine fellowship after fellowship.
7:23
And so what I did was I said, okay, what I'm going to do is that I'm going to go into locum tenens and I'm going to work as a primary care physician, but also market myself as a sports medicine physician.

Can you talk a little bit about that? how you set things up? How did you figure out what to charge? How did you find a location if you have a building? Did it take you a long time to get patients? Did you have to work and do other things on the side? Like what was it like from the moment that you decided to start your own business to the moment that you would say you were profitable and making enough money to be able to support yourself?
