exposed brick a new thriller yeah exactly so we we do this thing here where we're we we always try to speak to somebody who knows our guests to get a little bit of insight before we talk to them and i imagine more than most people bob has a lot projected on him um and uh What do people get wrong about him? What is one of the best things about him that people don't know?
31:36
He's funny.
31:37
He's got lifelong friends.
31:39
He can tell us who somebody is by how long they keep their friends.
31:43
And he's had the same group of friends going like way back.
31:50
And he's funny and he loves the good conspiracies theory.
31:55
And he's like, now oh we should get into some of those you know and he loves um he loves good food and it was during Irishman and um we were premiered at the London Film Festival and then we were supposed to stay over and uh he was no let's go to Paris a group of us you know let's go to Paris and we got on a plane it was probably like 11 o'clock at night and there was some restaurant that he insisted we go to of course the place was closed but they said they were closing or whatever and it was like oh but you know
35:10
Like this city moves fast and it keeps moving and things change and you have to stay present and current always.
28:59
Like, this city moves fast, and it keeps moving, and things change, and you have to stay present and current always.
29:05
The one thing about Bob that I find so, like, amazing, if you say, if you said to him, "Okay, well, on Taxi Driver, on A Bronx Tale, on Silver Linings," I mean, uh, just almost on any movie, like, "Where, um, you shot the movie on 6th Avenue," "No, no, we really shot it on 8th Avenue, and it was the northeast corner,"
29:32
[laughs]
29:32
"... and it was this little deli that's still there.
29:35
It used to be a Smilers, and now it's a this, and we were on the second floor, and you couldn't go..." I mean, he goes into such...
29:42
I mean, he has a photographic memory.
29:46
There's certain things he doesn't remember, but he is Like, why he calls me sometimes, he'll, like, call me and then say, "Do you have anything you needed to, uh, you needed to tell me?" And I'm like, "No, you called me." "Oh, oh, when I remember, I'll call you back."
37:07
Just to get people to come
37:08
... just to get people to come.
37:09
And those kept getting bigger and bigger, and by November, one had reached over 1,000 people.
37:15
And, um, Bob and I had talked about doing a film festival, but it was at that time we said, "Now's the time to do it." Because we could then, by just putting on a show and showing some movies, we could hopefully give our neighbors just a new memory, something to look forward to, 'cause it was so devastating.
38:59
Yes
38:59
...
38:59
it releases endorphins, and we needed to laugh.
39:02
We needed something to smile about.

[audience cheering]
2:52
Good afternoon, everyone.
2:54
Welcome to the 25th anniversary of the Tribeca Festival and a milestone like no other, the 25th years, 25 years of Survivor.
3:05
[audience cheering] Let's applaud.
3:07
Come on.
3:08
[audience cheering] Now, there's something that Jeff didn't tell you, and I, and he doesn't know this.
3:18
And it goes back even longer than the 25 years.
6:35
Look at it.
20:47
Oh, yeah.
20:48
And, um, he thought I should meet his friend, Robert De Niro, who was thinking of starting a production company.
20:55
And I thought, "Okay." I went to NYU.
20:57
I studied film.
20:58
I studied Martin Scorsese's student films, and he was asking me to meet Robert De Niro? So I thought I would go to that meeting, um-
24:05
Was it about Elton John?
24:06
It was about Elton John, and then he actually, um, Elton played.
24:11
It was our 10th anniversary, and, um, he was playing outside.Um, of course, I went and announced to the press that we were doing a live concert in Battery Park City.
