What's, what's your sort of take from the inside of City Hall, the thinking around, around all this and the sort of the post-Parkhurst consensus?

Yeah.

So very proud of my record at City Hall, both working for Boris and for Sadiq, and, um, delivering record numbers of completions with Boris and record numbers of starts with, um, Sadiq.

I, I think the, the key bit here and the focus was on a political pledge around fifty percent affordable housing, which was a key part of Sadiq's, um, manifesto and campaign to get elected in twenty sixteen, and that was clearly something that was high profile for him, salient with a large number of voters and important to be, um, delivered upon.

I think, like, there was, um, a lot of discussion in the campaign, particularly from the property industry, of saying kind of, "If you ask for too much, you'll just deliver nothing, and fifty percent of nothing is nothing." And in fact, the first thing that Sadiq said to me on being elected was, "Fifty percent of nothing's nothing, right?" And so the, the pragmatism came into things pretty, pretty quickly.

And so the first weekend, spent quite a lot of time with Neil Coleman and James Murray, who's one of the people that came across, um, from Islington, really focused on a grant settlement.

And it-- we were able to agree a whole lot of principles very quickly in terms of sort of responding to the, um, Conservative government of the time's national priorities for trying to deliver something for London and trying to get as big a share as possible.
