Jamie, how important is having background information on a surgeon, on a surgeon's trainings, hospital accreditation, and emergency backup, really importantly, when you contemplate a decision to travel abroad?
9:43
I think in the modern era of the internet, you can do a huge amount of research on people.
9:48
And so, uh, in Ireland, the accreditations to be in a consultant post are, once you dive just a little bit under the surface, quite obvious in that you have to have your accreditation with the College of Surgeons, you have to do your training pathway.
10:00
And while they're not the same abroad, there will be the same sort of pathway and steps that people must take to get proper accreditation.
10:08
And so a glitzy website with a c- consultant in, uh, cosmetic surgery, uh, saying they've done 1,000 procedures, y- most people should be able to think, "Well, if I dive a little deeper," and in the era of AI, we can see where they went to, uh, college and when.
10:25
Like, how long ago was that? Could they have done 1,000 procedures? Uh, where did they then specialize, and what accreditations do they have? And, and at a minimum, if it's in Europe, there are European exam, board exams that, uh, are, are, are res- almost reciprocal with the UK and Irish exams that we would do.
10:41
And that's who you should be looking for, someone who's hit those bars and not, hasn't just completed college and then set up his or her own clinic.

Why is continuity of care so critical, particularly for our patients that choose to travel abroad?
