So what's been the success? What works?

You know, the way that this was eliminated from the U.S. in the 1960s and actually eliminated all the way down to Panama, to what's called the Darien Gap, which is a forested region at the Panama-Columbia interface, has been the sterile fly technique.

And so what that does is...

Flies are produced, and then they go through an irradiation process that makes the male flies sterile.

Okay.

And the female flies only mate once.

So if you have an area where you have New World Schoolworm flies reproducing, you just flood that area with as many sterile male flies as possible, and you work to have them be what the female flies mate with.

If I have a herd and it gets infested, what's going to happen? Are we talking about dropping milk production? Are we talking about losing cattle? What are we talking about?
