Obviously, he's not gonna be wearing, you know, like, a Zegna suit five days a week, and w- and leaned in a little more to, to being me.
12:17
It, it worked so much better.
12:18
So that's probably relates to- Generation, age, and every other element of, of who we are is that I think trying to fight against who you are or hide certain elements of how you show up at work is d- not a particularly successful strategy.
12:32
And then when you talk about these companies that have a really wide range, I would almost zoom out and say one of the things I think is very cool about Verizon, this is one of the reasons I was really excited that, that you were gonna be the guest, and I, and I would love to get into this, is I think these companies that are not all one thing.
12:50
You have white collar roles, blue collar roles, technical roles, people who sit all day on a laptop, and lots and lots of people who are the exact opp- I mean, 70 or 80% of your real estate is not office.

Mm.

13 MINS LATER

25:34
Mm.
12:21
Have we found sort of a happy medium? Uh, are trend lines going, continuing to go in a certain direction back to the office? And by the way, geographically speaking, do you see different trend lines happening across the country?
12:32
I have a lot opinions about this subject, as you can imagine, and just one piece of context for listeners is that in January, Industrious sold to CBRE, the largest real estate company in the world, and I now run a segment called Building Operations and Experience, which is all of C- CBRE's building operating businesses; property management, facilities management, Industrious.
12:51
It's eight bill- w- we basically run 8 billion square feet of buildings, which for context, downtown Philadelphia is like, let's say, 40 million square feet of commercial space.
13:01
So it's like 200 downtown Philadelphia's mushed together, so obviously we have an enormous amount of data about what people are doing, what's working, what isn't.
13:09
And what I would say is that I think we've kind of pushed past this argument of work from home, not work from home, et cetera.
13:16
I think i- if you look at the data, the m- like the vast majority of businesses, people are coming in sometimes but not five days a week, and I personally love that.
13:27
I'm such a believer in the democratization of the way companies are run and putting power in people's hands to elect what works for them and their life versus coercive measures where you basically tell people, like, down to the minute what they should be doing.

8 MINS LATER

21:20
When did you know that, you know, this was the right amount? How were you thinking about potential acquisition over time?
