Yeah, I think the unique perspective I felt like I had was just as a legacy, right, having had a dad who was a captain of a team for 11 years And originally was recruited by Woody Woodward and then played for Dick Houser.

James RamseyGUEST
And then so really, you know, 11 was coaching, I think, middle school basketball, God be high school at one point during my dad's college career.

James RamseyGUEST
And then, you know, you turn around 1980, go to Rosenblatt College World Series and My dad and Eleven both tell kind of cool same versions of the story of giving him his first game ball.

James RamseyGUEST
There's a cool picture that's kind of circulated around over the years and then got to give him his 50th in the same year.

James RamseyGUEST
And so growing up for me, it was all about going down for homecomings and getting down there and just the way the Martin family and the Ramsey family had that long history but going in you know i definitely was not one of the higher ranked players in the recruiting class that we had we lost a couple guys to the draft and you know, you kind of just, you know, find a way, right.

How does that go in college?

James RamseyGUEST
I think that's the thing, is there's a lot of teams that have turf, and all turf is not created equal.

James RamseyGUEST
You've got, you know, some turfs that play fast in the infield, some turfs that play really bouncy and slow in the infield.

James RamseyGUEST
You have outfields that, you know, if the ball hits, uh, and it, and it, you know, wo- can bounce over a guy's head.

James RamseyGUEST
It's, hey, if a ball gets thrown away by the shortstop versus the third baseman versus the second baseman, where is the padding? How far, how much foul territory is there? Uh, you know, are the-- do the bunts-- There's some, some places that have their grounds crew, whether it's turf or natural, have bunts to where if it's rolling foul, it'll actually curve back into play.

Um, how much of that stuff-- Wh-when you get a report on it, how good are these guys at absolutely knowing that we're not doing this for fooling around? Like this is-- Y-you better understand what-- why we're going out and doing these types of things that you just described.

Why dress shoes? Well, I guess it goes back because it is a I think of it as a very adult and dignified, aspirational way of carrying yourself.

James RamsayGUEST
Like a lot of people, you know, you move to New York City right after college and it kind of marks really the real start of your adult life.

James RamsayGUEST
And I was coming from, you know, for context, I moved around as a kid, but I was coming from San Diego, California, which is a beautiful place.
