Tell me, and you mentioned series, tell me about how you start to think through a series when the original idea comes to you or the kernel of something comes to you and what you start to think about as the architect of something bigger, how you start to put the pieces in place and develop that propulsion into this world?

A smarter author would have outlines and big plans and schemes, and I don't have any of those things.

I don't outline my books.

I certainly have never outlined a series.

I just don't write that way.

So when I came up with the idea of City Spot, it actually was a pretty rapid, I tell this story sometimes, my wife and I went to the mall and you enter the mall through a bookstore and she wanted to go to Macy's and I didn't want to go to Macy's.

And so I said, you know, I'm going to sit here in the bookstore, and I'm gonna come up with a book series to pay for the trip we just took to visit our son in England, because our son was going to school in England for a year.
