No, that was beautiful.
23:30
It was.
23:31
Because when you're meditating, what you're doing is you are listening to the empty space between your thoughts.
23:40
Right? There's all these thoughts.
23:42
It's like a congested highway with all this traffic in your head all the time.
23:48
And meditation is what lets you quiet that noise and tune into the wisdom of stillness.
23:55
Because I think the best ideas... whether they're in writing or just your life and your own path as a person, as a professional, whatever it is, the best ideas come from listening, not from thinking or analyzing information.
27:33
For someone in that mode, how would you simply say how they could go about tuning into that? And how would you describe actually intuition as opposed to just a vessel to spirit?
23:43
homogenize
23:44
well or whatever, you sort of lose connection with those, that indigenous heritage where mythology is rooted.
23:53
And now we're all just sort of living around the world.
23:56
And there's been a lot of just like, cross-pollination of cultures, which is great, but it leaves us without this unifying myth to bind this together as a society.
24:10
So I always talk about art as being a place to plant the seeds of new mythology.
24:17
Like, what are these unifying myths that we can plant in the collective consciousness today that can take root and grow into the values and the laws of a culture? There's a great quote from Plato in his book, The Republic, where he talked about the power of music.
24:41
And he said that, I'm going to paraphrase, but he said that the state should always...

33:23
It's a slippery slope.
30:50
Or in the, what is it? The Big Magic, I think Elizabeth Gilbert, right? Like following that thread or it'll find another avenue or outlet or something.
31:00
Yeah, I think it's possible.
31:01
I think it's a mystery where ideas come from.
31:03
They don't come from the conscious mind.
31:06
They don't come from the ego.
31:07
They're not like, I don't take ownership of my ideas.
31:11
Say I take ownership of the dedication I've had to my craft that allows me to...
33:27
If someone wants to tap into their voice or listen to their intuition, like, what do you suggest that they kick off with?
10:27
Mm.
10:28
And, and sort of, you know, why is it that men as a wh- category are, can be cut off from their emotions? And, you know, h- he shared some of his story with his, with his father, and I think that something that affects nearly all men in the world that maybe isn't talked about enough is the trauma of war.
10:55
There's so much generational trauma that gets passed down through war.
11:00
My father was, um, 18 years old.
11:05
He had just graduated high school when he was sent to Vietnam-
15:01
Mm.
15:01
And I, and I feel like, um, my experience, and I think that I've seen this mirrored in most men, is that we tend to be locked into this intellectual paradigm of how we view the world.
15:18
And the problem with that is that the, the, the intellect is so, it's so limited.
