What, what has been the impact on the communities in Bordeaux and on the Cap Ferret Peninsula?

Well, i- in Bordeaux, I, I don't think there's been much impact at all, to be honest with you.

We've been staying in, near the center of the city for the last three days, and people ... aside from the fact that, that, that people do wear face masks like they did in COVID times, you wouldn't know there is re- really anything going on.

For the last couple of days it's been clear of smoke, the sun's been shining, people have been out, restaurants are open, shops are open.

So, uh, I think the, the mayor of Bordeaux had made comments over the weekend that they had contingency plans in place to evacuate the city should they need to do so, but he was keen to add that they didn't think realistically they would need to vacate the city because the fires were some sort of 20, 15, 20 miles away.

The smoke was a little bit of an issue towards the end of last week, but that's cleared up.

On, on Cap Ferret, it, it, it's a much different picture.

Are they welcoming, or are they fed up of you being there?

What has been the situation in Belfast over the last 48 hours? What have you been seeing and hearing?

It's a city that isn't any stranger to protest and violence, and that is pretty much what I've seen.

There's a lot of anger on the streets, as you can probably see with, with all the demonstrations that have, that have happened in Belfast and the violence that has come out of it.

There's sort of obviously always been two communities in Belfast.

There's the loyalist and there's the republican.

What you've had in recent years is you've had more people coming into Belfast from abroad.

Now, the loyalists say that the migrants have been moved into their areas and that the republican areas or, or republican groups like Sinn Féin have been encouraging it.

Can you give us a sense of, yeah, the, the, the scale of the damage and the scale of disruption across the, across the city?
