Cooke's retrial began in January 2007.
19:45
The obvious defense for them was that the, the DJs didn't leave because of the abuse, that they left in order to set up an alternative station, and that I left to make more money.
19:58
I, I knew what they were referring to.
20:00
And they had, uh, they had a book in their hand.

And this was the moment it came back to haunt me.
20:12
Then they started reading some passages from, from the book, and then the judge had to stop 'em and say, "Just because it's written in a book doesn't make it true."

Dillon decided to leave Radio Dublin and set up a rival station, Big D.
13:27
It was brought to my attention that a 14-year-old was made aware from a nine-year-old that something had happened.
13:36
It seemed it was of a sexual nature.
13:40
The concern was that if there was any misunderstanding, that now it would damage both the radio station and Eamonn Cook's reputation.
13:53
On the other hand, if it was true, then the DJs in the station were being used as a type of magnet to bring children in for abuse basically.
14:09
I needed first of all to prove to myself that it was true.
14:16
I needed to establish that fact.

When you see the stories that came out about the way he abused youngsters, the way he nurtured them and kept, brought them along and then had finally abused them in his own home, he was well fit, well capable of doing it.

Meanwhile, because Cooke was blatantly denying the allegations, DJ James Dillon, the man behind Siobhan's recordings, had to uncover the truth for himself.
5:30
I said, "The only way I'll know is to go up and talk to, to Siobhan's parents and see where exactly this is at now." Well, when I went up, her mother said, "I don't want to talk to you."

"Get away from the house." And I don't know what she said to him, but she was very angry, and he was trying to help.
5:55
And almost tr- tried to close the door.
5:58
And I said, "Uh, please.
6:00
Y- we're after pulling down a house of cards, the biggest radio station in Ireland, only because we think your daughter has been abused."

... doing something I really enjoyed.
20:41
And then I was, I was gigging in the nightclubs the rest of the week.
20:45
It was in one of those nightclubs, one of the guys that was involved in sales came in and said, "I hear that Eamonn Cooke is fiddling with the children." I said, "That's a dreadful thing to say." But I said, "Either you're finished for saying something like that, or the radio station's finished if it's true." And I said, "How do you know? Where did this come from? Who's the source?" And he said, "This 13-year-old girl." Whatever Siobhan said convinced the 13-year-old that there was sexual contact.
22:42
The teenage telephonist brought the tape back to James, who couldn't believe what Siobhan was saying.
22:49
He took a picture with his camera, and the picture comes out of the camera.
22:53
He showed it to me, and I was in my underwear.
22:56
And he said, "Would your mammy be happy if she saw this picture? 'Cause I'll put it on the dashboard of my car, and when she's walking home, sh- she'll see it, and they'll know you were in here like that.
