horror stories but even then they're not necessarily you know a straightforward ghost story you know i mean it's it's just such a eclectic and yet unified kind of vision how did you really think about like what were the guidelines you put out for this in terms of what you were specifically looking for

They were pretty wide open in some sense.

I think, you know, I essentially gave everyone the history of the place.

I gave all of the authors access to a selection of the photos I had taken over the years.

I selected a batch, a big batch of the ones I thought were the best.

And asked them all to, before they thought about their story or wrote anything, look at the pictures, see if anything inspires them or, you know, at least gives them a sense of the setting, the mood.

And I think I said I'm open to any kind of horror story except the only thing I wasn't really looking for was extreme horror.

Where did that come

What were your feelings going into it?

Yeah, pretty much exactly that.

I'm curious.

I'll give it a chance, but I don't think they're going to top it, the original.

I didn't think it was going to be very good.

I thought it was going to be sort of cheesy Hollywood product kind of thing.

And I went to see it.

yeah and i i like the special effects it maybe it's a little too glossy you know i like the gritty 70s effects that savini was doing but what do you think about the the effects in this film
