even a small suite, a bachelor suite in in that building? How do you approach that?

Jacob DawangGUEST
Yeah, I think it's like, to set the ground, I think the first thing we have to understand as people who advocate in this area and operate in this area is that most people simply don't care about this stuff.

Jacob DawangGUEST
They might be annoyed at some construction, but there are the Advent supporters, there are the fervent supporters like us And then there are the fervent opponents and we're like maybe combined 30% of the population, maybe a bit more, maybe or even less.

Jacob DawangGUEST
And then there's the vast majority of people who are in the middle who might have some lightly held opinions, you know, developers are greedy.

Jacob DawangGUEST
Maybe not right next to me, but you know, they haven't thought about this a lot because it doesn't really affect their everyday life.

But I want to hear from you now a little bit about what's been happening recently in Edmonton and some of the some of the concerns that you might have with housing advocacy and and change there.

Do you want to fill us in a little bit on what exactly did happen this morning in regards to housing?

Jacob DawangGUEST
Yeah, so today's announcement all has to do with Edmonton and how Edmonton permits homes, where it's how we build in Edmonton.

Jacob DawangGUEST
And just for some background for maybe some of the viewers who don't know what's Edmonton's story, for the past 20 or so years, Edmonton has been on a journey of shifting more of our housing from outward growth, a greenfield sprawl, you might call it, towards more inwards growth.

Jacob DawangGUEST
Back in 2010, it started with basement suites, garden suites, laneway suites, moved on to duplexes.

Jacob DawangGUEST
So we just let the market decide how many parking spots you could build on a given lot.

So Jacob, what does this spell for the future of housing in Edmonton, as well as honestly, like trust in democracy in Edmonton?
