I think if you haven't listened to it, I think the CW pod that he did with ch- Jeff Woody and Chad Leistikow was really good.

You know, we talked a little bit about Tim Wester and, and how, you know, how good he's been for Iowa in developing all the, the offensive schemes and making it better from what Kirk Ferentz has started there.

They have been really good under Tim in the first r- scripted first or second drive of, of the game, and you, you saw that on Saturday.

Again, Hank Brown goes right down the field, and they score right away.

And Iowa State's gonna get punched in the mouth f- first.

You know, Iowa's really good at doing that.

Right.

How about you, Pence?

Yeah.

Um, if, for my offense, I think this is kind of a, a, a room deal, 'cause it's probably the biggest unknown on this whole team.

I, I think it's the tight end room.

I'm excited to see who emerges there, because you have a guy in Tyler Fortenberry that comes over with Eckendorf and Rainer at Arkansas State last year, um, was a starter for them.

And then you have a guy in Vince Benetti who's been on the team the last couple years and has kind of been buried under some of those great tight ends that Iowa State's had the past three, four years.

Um, so th- that's just a n- that's just a position group that you think about that's probably going to be, you know, their role's going to grow and grow as the season gets on, because they're still trying to learn what they have there.

That's what this guy was built for, and that's gonna be exciting to see how it, how it unfolds for him.

Yeah, BYU's up there.

You know, Utah's probably close to that, to that area, too.

Those would be the three teams that I would say would be the best they'll see.

But one thing that I heard Chris Williams say one time was ...

This was back, I think, when Iowa State was just, you know, year two or three in the Campbell era, is what separates, you know, the eight and four, the seven and five seasons, is having a great defensive line.

But when you get to the nine, 10, 11 se- win season, that's when you have a great offense and defensive line.

If Iowa State can build their defensive line, then you, you've seen it when they s- started recruiting these guys.

And they get the elevated games from guys who look like they're poised to, to give the team that.

Do you think entering his name in the supplemental draft was the right move, not just for him, but for Texas Tech as well?

Absolutely.

I mean, you talk about just the overall, the rules around what he did and the gambling and all that.

That's just, you know, in college football and in college athletics today, it's just you can't do that.

And you can't expect to play because the rules are the rules.

And it's the same thing.

Once you lay down the law, and these Iowa and Iowa State athletes had this happen, where if you break the rules, then you have to take the consequences.

What does this mean to you? And secondly, how many beers are you going to start drinking at Iowa State sporting events?

Yeah

Stadium at halftime and come back in.

Um, I can't tell you how many times in the last 10 years, especially when Iowa State's been good at football, how many times Iowa State's come out at halftime to maybe, uh, I don't know, about half empty stadium.

But the lower bowl certainly half empty, because fans go outside, eat or drink or whatever, and the team just looks flat start of the third quarter.

There's just no energy in Jack Trice Stadium.

And, you know, th- that was a thing that they've really struggled with the last 10 years, especially when Matt Campbell was there.

The big question, not just in Big 12 circles, but nationally, I mean, I've seen it all over nationally, is who's gonna be picked first? Is it gonna be Darren Peterson from Kansas or AJ Dabanja from BYU? Jackson, if you were the Washington Wizards today, or tomorrow I guess for that matter, who are you drafting and why?

Tell us a little bit about Keishon Williams.

Yeah.

The one thing I like about Keishon Williams is just the height.

You know, a lot of corners, you know, mainly ha- are, you know, under six foot.

He's six foot one, and he's got room to grow too.

He's 175 pounds.

He reminds me a lot of some of the guys that they already have on the team.

How, how would you put it all into perspective on Bobbitt's side of the ball for the '27 class so far with still a few names to pick up?

Pence, this wasn't a massive surprise, but it's a result of an unbelievable recruiting journey for T.J. Otzelberger and Donovan Davis.

And it starts just, you know, you talk about a couple years ago, it started three or two or three years ago with Davis and, you know, here we are today, and he picks the Cyclones, and it's the second highest rated recruit in school history.

And, um, I, I don't think you can say enough words about what Otzelberger has done in, on the recruiting trail, on the portal, and high school, and what, what an awesome day, you know, for Donovan to be able to, you know, announce his commitment to Iowa State.

You talk about, you know, the portal class that they have.

It's just this thing that T.J. has built is unbelievable, and then you g- you add a guy like Donovan Davis, who is a once, you know, once in a generational player and the type of player that they want him to be going into Iowa State in two years, in the 2027 season.

So what an awesome day to be a Cyclone.

You know, uh, Iowa State should celebrate this because these kinds of recruits don't come around very often.

It, it's pretty unbelievable what Otzelberger's been able to do so far.

It comes from Christopher Miller: "With the commitment of Slagle and Hansen within the State of Iowa, do you expect Rogers and staff to be right back to where the Campbell and staff were with recruiting in the state in the next two to three years?" What do you think?

I think that's a great question, and I think you're already seeing ...

And I, I tweeted this the other day, too, about, you know, you picked up the recent commitment of Joe Vineyard out of Waukee Northwest, the three-star tight end over there in Waukee.

You're starting to see the, the, the coaches are making a priority, and, and it goes into the '28 class and the '27 class that's coming up, uh, to sign in December.

You know, they're making an appointment TV to get these guys on campus.

And what I thought was cool about Vineyard especially is he was on campus four times, I believe, before he committed to Iowa State.

And, you know, part of the reason Iowa State's been so successful, not only in Rogers, but Oselberger does this, and Campbell has really got it.

Mm-hmm.

And he was at Waz- he was at Wazzu, right, Jackson?

Yeah, he was at Wazzu.

And then you have a guy like Caden Crawford who started his career at Iowa, went to South Dakota and played really good football there, and came to Iowa State for his last year.

There's a lot of guys.

But I, I think those Washington State guys, too.

A lot of them played at South Dakota State.

They came over to Washington State, and now they're here, and, you know, they know the system that Bobbitt and Rogers want to run.
