I have vivid memories of playing it in Portugal-

Portugal-And when I visited with family, I just wanted to stay in and play Worms.

if you could zoom out from that, you could see like, oh, there is a quality step up from those earlier games to, to this.

Jack PackardGUEST
Yeah, I was gonna say, I mean, for all I've complained about their walking sims and what they did to Silent Hill 2 and The Medium specifically, um, I have some affection for them as a developer-

And the game just knows, well, your board state is stronger than everyone else's in turn two, so you're winning.

Jack PackardGUEST
So it dynamically changes who's winning and losing based on the board state of the, um, everyone who's playing, and that's really, really fascinating.

Jack PackardGUEST
And I think, well, I hope, um, a lot of new card games are gonna come... try and pick up that formula because one of the, the big problems with playing, like, Hearthstone or, or Magic: The Gathering, um, online or in person-

And then adding something into the ecosystem that can be a, an instant buy-in for parents or the uneducated to just instantly get into that, you know, market that maybe their friends might be doing as well is- ... really attractive.

Jack PackardGUEST
And the price as well, buying a basic PC that can run most things moderately, you're looking at, well, especially nowadays, multiple thousands of dollars.

the young ones that was just poo and jokes and bum gags and knob gags and people hitting each other with frying pans and it was funny because it was like uh in defiance of an establishment that's why we laugh

Jack PackardGUEST
uh i think that's fair i do like the other the other thing though that is kind of an important um an important talking point when we talk about comedy and games is an expectation for comedy a safe in a space in which it is safe to laugh and And so, like, I think if I were playing like a Resident Evil game and all of a sudden Thomas the Tank Engine bust through a door without me understanding that I installed those mods, I think I would be more confused than than laugh at it.

Jack PackardGUEST
Whereas if someone installed those mods and is like live streaming and like, hey, we all have an expectation for comedy, then those laughs can come a little bit easier.

So what do you think are examples of good comedy games that are intentionally comedy games?

Jack PackardGUEST
I what I came up with was a couple moments and one game that I think is the epitome of comedy game speaking mechanically, because I know you guys have talked before about written comedy and like a written moment to me is not a game moment.

Jack PackardGUEST
Uh, but, uh, uh, I, I put them, I, I, I go into three different categories here.
