Why?

Uh, sure that's the fifty million dollar question.

Uh, I just thought on breaking ball and stuff it short at times, you know.

Uh, my ma- it possibly goes back to some of the stuff I was talking about in the last few weeks, that we've had men that had big long periods out of football this year.

Kevin White was out of football for six months.

Seanie was out of football for ten weeks.

Joe, eight weeks.

What is the last season like for you now? Do you take some time for yourself or do you try and rest? Do we get some of those players who played a good manner last round? What is the next couple of months like for you?

It's a different dynamic for both sides,

isn't it? Well, it is, yeah, and you'll be hoping that maybe our experience might be a bit of an advantage to us.

But there's also the other side of the coin, the exuberance and the enthusiasm of youth and, you know, with no hint of fear in them.

So they might shoot the lights on on a big day, you know.

So there's that side of it as well.

And I remember Paddy Shea telling me one time that the more finals he played and the more nervous he got.

So it can work for you or against you depending on your own make-up.

I suppose just on that Donegal game as well it would have been very easy to just sink down after that defeat but you talk about responding in an absolute style

What do you think got you over the line today, Jack?

We certainly got a bit of luck at times.

No, no question about it.

Um, bit of experience.

Uh, that Dublin team have really come...

I mean, look at the teams they've beaten in the last couple of games.

If you said six weeks ago, "Any team that'll beat Donegal," you'd say they wouldn't allow them, you know? Um, so Dublin have come good at the right time.

You obviously lost Paul Gainey during the week, but you have got a lot of bodies back as well.

I think facing them last year in the final, and obviously you played them just under two weeks ago, helped in the game?

Yeah, definitely.

I suppose last week they gave us a bit of a trimming, so that's always going to be a bit of motivation going into the league final.

But as I said a while ago, I've been playing Middleton in league finals and county finals since I was growing up, so there's a good competition between us now and there's always a good battle between us, so it's good to get over the line again today.

Middleton, obviously, they won all nine of their regular league games as well.

Did that help to kind of took the pressure off you a small bit? Yeah, I suppose, like...

The league really is just all about finding players and building a bit of momentum towards the championship, so you can look it up always really, I suppose it did and it didn't, but

And you obviously have a bit of a break now until Charleville are in the championship, obviously looking to defend your championship, what's the next few weeks going to look like? Yeah,

There was a sense, a mi- was there maybe a little sense of overconfidence in Kerry this week? And obviously you'd, you'd be hoping it wouldn't seep through to the group, but was that a concern?

Sure, to that, it was a concern when you, when you, when you hear people going on like that, that this was a done deal or whatever.

But I, I'm stuck on it a long time.

There, there was never a s- there was never a, a soft lot end, I tell you that one.

And, uh, we knew we were at a bit of a disadvantage coming in this week.

They're, they are a well-coached team who were, who were well-rested and, um, you know, Fartnett, had the Fartnett break, so they were always go- if they hung in the game, they were gonna always be highly dangerous.

And they have, they have, they have some lovely footballers, like Sir Michael Hone, McCory, uh, Cassidy and Defarty, lads like that.

That would've put seven points in between you then, yeah

So is there, as a fractional executive coming in to kind of deal with this lack of alignment, where do you typically try to jump in first and break down what's happening?

Great question.

I think every situation is somewhat unique, but I think going in, you try to get an overall sense of what the situation is and trying to get a little bit of history.

And then I think as you go in, it's really almost interviewing all of the stakeholders and really just trying to To build some sort of a relationship, gain a certain level of trust and really just listen.

And, you know, I think nine times out of 10, that's one of the biggest issues is people don't feel heard or listened to.

And especially as physicians have transitioned out of the model, you know, earlier where most of them were independent and kind of ran their own businesses to now their employees.

I feel like there's that large segment of those physicians who remember the old days and.

yeah i can imagine so you're trying to build trust through listening and the interviewing and all of that somehow you've got to bring the group together So what's your blueprint for sort of building that trust amongst the whole group and getting them to pull in the same direction?
