And given your knowledge of food generally, why do you think Snickers tastes different?
16:49
You know, it's hard to say because you do the label reading and it only gets you so far.
16:55
I mean, you know, you can tell by the order of the ingredients.
16:59
If that changes, that could be a real sign.
17:02
You know, if something has gone up in the ingredient list, that likely means there's more of it because...
17:08
Ingredients are listed in the order of sort of weight.
17:11
You know, they're just using lower quality ingredients in order to keep costs down.
19:24
So I'm curious, what makes a really great peanut butter cup? Is there something the homemade version can get right that a store-bought candy might not?
24:07
Did you have a local station that you were working with that was presenting the show for PBS to carry? Or because you're up there in the Northeast, were you working with PBS directly? How did that all work?
24:20
So most of the cooking shows are self-funded, meaning that the person or the company that is creating the show bears the cost of that with underwriter support and then gives the show to public television and you have a local presenting station.
24:39
We went out and because we were at that point in Brookline, which is a first suburb out from Boston, you know, if you were thinking about doing a show for public television, you know, 27 years ago, Julia Child was right across the river in Cambridge.
24:55
And that's a pretty good model.
24:57
So we reached out to her producer and her director.
25:02
And said, hey, do you want to come do a pilot with the folks at America's Test Kitchen? None of us had had any television experience.
25:12
And the pilot was terrible.

15 MINS LATER

40:13
Like, can you kind of compare and contrast like what it's like doing the one show versus the other show on that level? And then we'll get into the show itself.
