It seems like it's been a pretty significant shift in recent years.

Well, I, I'm glad you asked that because, um, before President Trump assumed the second administration, General, I wrote a piece, um, where I said that in order to make America great, you need to make the Americas great again.

And by, by saying that, more than a cliché or more than a slogan, what I was trying to say is that the United States needs to see the hemisphere not as a front yard or a backyard, but as our, as the region where we can strengthen the values and principles of democracy.

And we can't take that for granted.

We have a democratic charter.

That was signed by Colin Powell as Secretary of State in the morning of September 11, 2001, in Peru.

The same day of the tragical events that we all don't, don't, don't want to remember, but we have to always honor the victims and the heroes of, of that tragic day.

Could you maybe share your thoughts maybe about what's happening in Venezuela, but then also, uh, not just in c-connection with the earthquake, but the political transition, uh, and, and how you see the, the transition away from the Chavistas, uh, to something, you know, a more durable form of representative government, restoration of the Venezuelan constitution, uh, there?

Well, I don't think there's evidence that proves that right now, Amna, but I think also what is interesting to, to, to stress is that in the last decade, Colombia and the US have worked jointly in interdiction.

Aerial interdiction and maritime interdiction.

And in those interdiction exercises, there have been usage of weapons if, uh, if the, uh, if, if, if the vessels or the planes do not follow orders and do not proceed to be put under the custody of the judicial system or the military intervention.

So, the bombardments that we have seen are all based in the, in the fight against narcotics in the Caribbean.

So, I think, uh, what Petro is trying to, to do is to exaggerate the situation, trying to make this a patriotic, quote unquote, stand, while trying to use this as an instrument in order to polarize the 2026 election.

But when you look at the, at the facts, Colombia and the United States have done this kind of exercises for a long time.

What would be the impact of that cut on Colombia?
