I'm using the phrase projectable bodies now I've got to drop that in somewhere that's awesome it's Isaac Streeter joining us from the Portland Tribune so I know it's still early because the portal has not closed even though there have been some movement and signings we'll talk about Oregon and those that had left and there have been a couple of signings but for Mitch Caneman Oregon State right now we talked about the pitching but elsewhere Is the Oregon State roster getting bulked up, or is it too early to tell? Because obviously nobody's done until that portal closes, and then it's going to be the rest of the free-for-all.
33:44
Sure.
33:45
And, you know, I'm thinking back to the last time I came on.
33:47
I think I was ultimately pretty critical of how they were attacking the portal kind of in those early stages.
33:54
That said, I mean, might have been some of my own oversight there, but, you know, we totally forgot to mention Diego Cruz, who was the MAAC freshman of the year and is going to play second base for this team.
34:06
But kind of, you know, he's the headline offensive transfer.
34:09
But kind of around this, I think they're in a very different spot from where they were last year, where...
35:55
They still have a good amount of talent on the team, but are they going to be able to build on it, I guess?
24:11
So, for Oregon or Oregon State, is it simply they just have to raise so much cash to stay competitive, or is there another avenue for them to be competitive?
24:20
No, the avenue for them to be competitive is exactly what they're doing right now.
24:24
It just comes at the loss where you're turning over your roster every— every single season right now and that's just kind of the case i mean you've got my twitter up i tweeted about it earlier but the new mlb rule that mlb owners presented which is not confirmed but this in my opinion is very good for college athletics um in college football as a whole where or college baseball my apologies where the mlb could be tweaking how it's going to be approaching uh the mlb draft and shortening the draft and making high schooler players not eligible i think this is a good thing but it's kind of off topic from what you're getting at just because it has to do with the MLB CBA, not actually college baseball, but, but it affects college baseball.
25:03
It would effectively.
25:04
And it's a matter of if the MLB PA and MLB owners agree on this, but which good one is funny.
25:12
But, um, any who, yeah, I mean, it's kind of the state college baseball is in right now where you're in a race to 34 scholarships.
25:18
And if you don't have that, sorry, these kids are going to go make their money, you know, and that's just kind of how it goes with that.
25:33
I just can't help but feel like is what we saw this year, and it doesn't mean the results will be the peak of what they can do, but in terms of the roster, are they ever going to be able to build a roster better than the one they just had this year?

24:59
What about the offense? Do you think they have enough offense?
25:02
I think their offense is in a good place right now.
25:05
This just isn't the team it was last year, where you've got three guys in Gavin Turley, Ivan Arquette, and Wilson Weber, who are just a home run threat at any point, not to mention postseason Trent Caraway, you know, turning into Babe Ruth in that regional last year.
25:19
But, um, you know, I think they've got bats, and, uh, uh, their guys getting hot right now.
25:24
I, I think of Paul Vasquez, who's, you know, playing Gold Glove defense at third base.
25:28
I'll shout that one from the rooftops.
25:30
I think he should win the Gold Glove at third this year.

But how do you think a team needs to temper emotion, especially coming into such a big weekend? Because you can get over your skis.
